Bonding and white fillings

When a tooth has decay or an old filling that needs to be replaced, a white composite resin is used to restore the tooth back to normal. Bonding can be done to improve the shape and color of your teeth.

When a tooth or teeth are missing a bridge can be made by using the existing teeth to form a bridge covering the space made by a missing tooth. Bridges are fixed (not removable) unlike partial dentures.

Dentures/ Partial Denture

These are done in order to replace multiple missing teeth. They are removable and must be taken out and cleaned daily.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are done to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are an alternative to bridge work and do not involve using other teeth to replace the missing tooth.

Dental Hygiene

Hygiene is a very important component to oral health. There are two types of cleanings that are done at the office. A prophy is done without anesthetic and is usually done every 6 months in order to maintain the tissue around the tooth. At times a scaling/root planing (SRP) is needed. This is done under local anesthetic because it is a deeper cleaning. An SRP may need to be done because of poor periodontal health. Poor periodontal health can lead to tooth loss if left untreated.

Sometimes a tooth has broken, has a large filling, large decay or has had a root canal done. In order to strengthen the tooth a crown is done. Crowns can be made from porcelain, gold, or zirconia. Crowns and veneers are also done to improve the shape and color of your smile.

The removal of wisdom teeth is a very common practice we see today. Wisdom teeth can be problematic as they may be impacted (coming in at an angle), or they may only emerge partially and subsequently lead to the infection known as Pericoronitis. In such case, it’s advised that they be removed.

Extraction can involve the removal of a single tooth or multiple teeth. Before beginning the procedure either a local or a general anesthetic is used to ensure a pain-free procedure.

Anesthesia takes time to wear off, so you will need to be driven home. The extraction site will bleed for some time following surgery so you’ll want to change gauze as necessary. You’ll want to get ample rest after the procedure, and you may do so by sitting or laying in a position that keeps your head elevated. Pain medication may be taken as directed, and a cold compress or ice pack may be used to help with pain and swelling.

Foods for Wisdom Teeth Extractions, we would suggest sticking to soft foods for a few days, such as:
  • Gelatin
  • Pudding
  • Yogurt
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Ice Cream
  • Thin Soup
  • And other foods that don’t require chewing.

Root Canals

The procedure begins by numbing the area with a local anesthetic. Then the dentist will drill a hole into the tooth so that the infection may be removed from the canal. Once the canal is cleaned out, it will be filled and sealed with gutta percha and most likely fitted with a crown (both for aesthetics and to help ensure success). Thanks to anesthesia and pain medication we are able to perform root canals with minimal discomfort. You may notice soreness after the procedure, but that’s normal and easily treated with pain medication prescribed by your dentist or purchased over-the-counter.

Despite their reputation, root canals don’t have to be scary or anxiety-inducing. You will most likely experience very little if any pain during the procedure and it will alleviate the pain you may have been feeling due to hot and cold sensitivity or biting down too forcefully. So if you are in pain, please come in and talk to us today.

Whitening is an easy process that restores the natural and brilliant white shine that your teeth once had. At our office we use a tray whitening method that is accomplished in two steps. First we make an impression of your teeth to create a custom tray that you will be able to use multiple times until you get the results you seek. Next, you use a whitening gel in the tray for short periods of time spread out over several days. If you want your smile to improve 4-8 shades, then talk to us today about teeth whitening and how you can get started.

We look forward to getting to know you and your family!
